View of Nepean River from Lapstone
About the town
A small town of approximately 1000 residents, Lapstone is set amongst thick forests and bush. Numerous non-commercial trails exist with wonderful views of the nepean river from Bluffs and lookouts. The sights and atmosphere found here in Lapstone let you know you're very much away from city life.
Access to the National Park walks are available through Glenbrook, which is the next suburb west. Walks along Glenbrook Gorge wind around through Lapstone towards the Nepean River. Mt Portal offers stunning view accross the river towards Sydney (wheelchair access available). The Lapstone Zig Zag walk is an easy 1 hour walk that leaves you with a view of the Knapsack Viaduct.
From Lapstone it’s approximately 40 minutes drive up the great Western Highway to Katoomba and the 3 sisters. From Sydney, it's an hour by train or 50 minutes by car along the M4 Motorway.
