ABOUT THE PROPERTY
The Megalong Australian Heritage Centre is regarded as "the Outback Ranch in the Mountains" -it's rugged with majestic sandstone cliffs and the winding Cox's River, yet it is serene and tranquil with its vast stretches of beautiful pastureland and pristine wilderness areas. While you stay at Megalong you can sleep in and relax or get up early with your camera and watch the mist rise from the valley to reveal the grazing kangaroo's, a great sight for photographers or early walkers. Breakfast at the Centre is a typical country ordeal... lots and lots of farm fresh baked bread, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, beans, fruit and cereals. Enjoy breakfast under the willows in the Alfresco area or in the rustic Outback Woolshed Steakhouse and watch the morning muster into the stockyards. We like our guests to experience what makes our range in the Blue Mountains famous worldwide. The firsts horse ride leaves soon after breakfast so mount up and head off for the hills. The ride ambles across the property over to the Cox's Canyon. You arrive at a lookout offering superb views into the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park. We offer either a half-day or full day ride to the Cox's or seasonally you can join in with the fun of the Cox's River Cattle Muster. Over 5km of the rugged Cox's River meanders through chasms and canyons and widens out on the bends into warm sandy banks with deep swimming holes - great for a summer cooling off. Our rides are truly one of the most breathtaking in scenery to be ridden in Australia - the Day Ride lets you unwind and take in the isolation and remoteness unparalleled so close to Sydney, it's hard to believe that its only 90 minutes away. In the afternoon you may like to try your legs out on with a leisurely bushwalk If you are after complete relaxation you can't come to a better place. There are cool leafy willow trees to sit under and watch the world go by with an iced tea or cappuccino coffee. There are great award winning restaurants just 12 minutes away in Blackheath. In winter sit by a cozy fire with a bottle of wine. Wind down and relax - don't feel guilty - in the Megalong when God made time - he made a lot of it, so discover how really relaxing life is meant to be.

MEGALONG VALLEY HERITAGE FARM
 | Megalong Valley Farm conveys a distinct feeling... its the puppy lying asleep in the sun, cattle slowly grazing in the paddock, draughthorses with big brown eyes, a baby lamb suckling on its mum, a peacock proudly courting its lady.
When you visit the Farm you need to draw in a deep breath and slowly expel the hustle and bustle of the 90's. Take time out to relax, walk slowly and discover the joy of simplicity. The Farm itself is very layback.
It's a place where ducks waddle and swans are elegant. It’s a place where geese and goats gently nudge a small timid child with his pockets full of bread. It’s a place where you fall in love with Clydesdale Horses. |
HORESRIDING
This is Blue Mountains Horse Riding with a Difference. Free range or escorted. Come and discover the spectacular beauty of riding in the Blue Mountains. Slowly meander your way along rocky ridges and gullies with their lyrebirds and other wildlife. You'll draw your breath as you gaze on landscapes with majestic cliffs and lush glens in deep valleys. The ride is a journey back to the past when men and women rode the trails from days long gone. Each trip is more than just a horse ride - it's a total experience. Enjoy a horse ride of a lifetime on one of the Farm's famous Clydesdale Draughthorses, or our working stock horses and quiet ponies. The Draughthorses are gentle and well behaved and their smooth comfortable gait is like riding in a lounge chair.
